In Memoriam

Anton Jungherr

With heartfelt sadness, we report the passing of Anton Jungherr, the co-founder and Executive Director of the California Association of Bond Oversight Committees (CABOC), on December 18, 2023. Anton and Jack Weir were the co-founders of CABOC. It was established in 2019, and its purpose was to train citizens who served on Citizens Bond Oversight Committees.

Anton had a passion for empowering citizens through training, as outlined in the Little Hoover Commission 236 Report in 2017. The implementation of online training for CBOC members brings accountability to educational institutions to manage taxpayers’ school bond measures.

Anton’s legacy is the creation of a fledgling organization that has evolved to become a state-wide resource for CBOC members. As its stated mission, the organization has created training modules, conducted conferences, and provided “help needed” to the public.

Additionally, CABOC has expanded to focus on different aspects of effective bond management as well as legislative gaps through the talents of its staff.

CABOC will continue Anton’s legacy by embracing current strategic plans and implementing new initiatives.

In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a public service. He asked that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor him, please make donations to CABOC.
